Filming the Train Care Department at Alresford Watercress Line – Brief

Our focus for the 3-5 minute film project is the Train Care Department at Alresford Watercress Line. We identified the needs of the brief which is to research the general jobs undertaken by the department, maintenance, safety checks, and why the job is vital. We aim to look into the day-to-day preparation the department undertakes, such as cleaning and general maintenance. As well as this, the long term preparation for future train care.

In our presentation we also planned the recce where we visit Alresford Station on 8/02/19 and scout ideal locations to for the A-roll and B-roll footage relevant to our brief. Here, we will photograph and take note of these locations and hopefully come across other relevant information we can include in our documentary as we want it to be informative and entertaining to help bring more visitors to the Heritage Railway. We also hope to interview Phil Griffin who runs the Mid Hants Railway’s train care department for context and to have as the audio over the B-roll shots. At the recce we will get to know his role by seeing them in action, so when we interview him we can ask questions which he can give us detailed answers which are also relevant to our footage.
