The week before filming…

We met in our group to get our final documents in order, completing a mid-point review where we signed to say we have contacted our interviewee at Mid Hants Railway, have permission to film at the location, loaned out the filming equipment for an extended period, completed a risk assessment and that our project has been approved by the University’s ethics administration.

We have also listed some questions to ask our interviewee and sent them to the railway to allow him to prepare answers and know what to show us when we arrive that is relevant to our brief, these include:

  1. What jobs are/are not done day-to-day?

  2. Can you show us some jobs that you are currently partaking in?

  3. What is your favourite part of the job?

  4. Why is the railway important to you?

As the railway has potential for risks, we assessed some of them in the form below. As we found out during the recce, we must always wear a high visibility jacket to ensure we are easily seen, but some hazards are hard to avoid and some can only be avoided by our own behaviour:
